This is probably the most easy way to understand my condition. Ive been diagnosed with PCOS 16 years ago and my conditon got worse because i didn't and still don't understand how its affecting my body. Im diabetic (diagnosed back in Feb) and suffer from depression, I do zumba workouts 3x a week but my diet is horrendous and im scared im eating myself into an early grave. I crave sugars and addicted to diet soda. I had infertility issues when i was trying for children so gave up on that. I am 37, i want my life back, to be healthy and get my symptoms under control. Wish me luck as 2020 needs to be the year i change my life 💯

I cannot thank you enough for this video. I’ve been thinking I was crazy this last few years (I’m now almost 19) with my weight gain. Because of school, I’d been stressed and not looking after my diet. However, when I DID look after my diet, I couldn’t lose weight and it didn’t make sense. I reduced my kcal intake (STUPIDLY) to 300 per day, and that was the only time I saw results. Which obviously I couldn’t maintain, and just ended up gaining more.
I was diagnosed with PCOS earlier this week, and am looking for ways to lower the risk of complications down the line because of it. This video makes so much sense, and explains so much to me. It explains why I wasn’t losing weight on a calorifically deficient diet until my eating became disordered, and how I can tackle this moving forward. I’m not sure if you’ll check these comments, but if you do, THANK YOU. I’m so blessed to be educated this way, and I hope I can use this information the reduce my health risk in the next year or so.

I take spironolactone for PCOS primarily for acne and hair loss. Both cured btw. Problem is I have to stay away from potassium . So no avocado, spinach ect.

I wonder if I have this and it's why I don't lose weight. I have a lot of belly fat despite eating a relatively health diet for years (beer belly look without bear or much bread) . The scales go up and up and I can't seem to make it go down. I use to be able to by watching my diet and a bit of exercise. Now nothing works. My mother is also diabetic.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism with vitiligo in my early years 20's then came PCOS diagnosis in my late 30's. My organs were working too hard and beginning to slow down. I kept gaining weight until I reached about 205 lbs. I've tried a few different diets and lost to 198 lbs due to a death in the family, but my weight started to creep back up to reaching 202 lbs on Feb. 22, 2018. I started a healthy coaching program through my job health insurance and it has been the best thing since "slice bread." Now I'm hovering around 178 lbs (6/1/2018) and hit a few plateaus. Dr. Becky tips are in-line of what my coach have said to me. My coach also is a weight loss survivor in which she has lost 130 lbs naturally. Keep working hard, lose slowly, and it will pay off. There's no fad diet that can do better than initial prayer, gratitude, mindfulness, basic diet and exercise. Access everything that goes into your body and ask yourself "is it helping or hurting me." I have dropped out of the obesity zone into overweight zone and I'm so grateful for this accomplishment. I have a long way to go so I know you can do it. Again keep working and it will pay off.

Your explanation is general, but not not always the case.
I have PCOS, and went through many years of fertility treatment. My male androgens were in a normal range…but my estrogens were extremely elevated, progesterone reduced…and the estrogens work hand-in-hand with the insulin to drive a fat-making machine. As my reproductive endocrinologist explained, excess estrogen is stored in fat, and the more estrogen you make, the more fat you have to make to store the excess estrogen, independent of insulin. In essence, the estrogen takes over the insulin's job, and makes fat that is nearly impossible to budge because it doesn't respond to the normal cues reduced insulin would normally give for the cells to release their fat to be burned (because it was created differently), and requires more extended signals before it will go into a fat-burning mode. Oddly, during my pregnancy, it was like a furnace was turned on (quite literally), and the elevated hCG added that "something extra" that DID burn the fat…which is one function of hCG…to cause the body to burn fat in order to feed this growing baby.
I have successfully lost weight in two ways over my now 60 years: on the hCG diet, and via a ketogenic diet. The hCG literally melts fat off (I did it the first time at 21). The ketogenic diet does it similarly, but it takes longer to get to fat-burning. Once it does, it's successful…it just takes 2-4 weeks of not having ANYthing that would spike insulin before that estogenically-created fat decides it has to leave. AND…should you "cave" and eat something that would spike your insulin, you make/create another "plateau" in which you have to start the fat-burning signalling all over again.
Not just that, but it seems to me that my body responds to carbs like it might to any highly addictive drug. The carb-cravings I experience are intense, and it's kind of like the old Lay's commercial: you can't stop at one…only salty-carbs are not my thing…sweet carbs are, and I avoid them like the plague. Once I start, it's nearly impossible to stop.

What about heavy whipping cream since it doesn’t have the sugar that regular milk has? Does Dairy include all forms: cheese, milk, etc?
